Each year Katmai Conservancy and Katmai National Park and Preserve agree to an Annual Philanthropic Work Plan, a collaborative work that aligns the identified needs of Katmai National Park with Katmai Conservancy’s assessment of interest of their donor community in supporting those needs.
In addition to contributing to our Katmai Visitor Center Building Fund, the 2023 Annual Philanthropic Work Plan includes support for seasonal Park staff, tribal partnership projects, bear and wolf research, educational programs, community outreach, and other initiatives.

Outreach
We work with our community partners on a variety of topics and issues, and help connect local students to the cultural history of the Katmai area and the Park itself.

Research
Katmai Conservancy supports important aerial brown bear abundance research and non-invasive coastal wolf and bear DNA genotyping studies.

Staff
We provide funding for Katmai National Park interpretive and bear management staff, training, and the equipment necessary to support the valuable explore.org bearcams and “Fat Bear Week”.
